I’m pretty damn good at SEO. I can do a lot. But I can’t get you to No. 1 in Google for an extremely competitive keyword overnight.

They’re all lying.
They can’t deliver on those big promises. They make those big promises to get you excited enough to shell out some cash.
Then they either fade away or vanish into the night. With your money in hand.
And you’ve got nothing to show for it.
It’s a classic scam tactic. They distract from the fact that they have no credentials or proof of their abilities by dazzling you with big SEO promises.
Does that mean you should go with a link building company that make NO promises?
Not at all.
Just check the promises for feasibility. No one is in control of Google’s algorithm. So no one can make SEO guarantees.
But link builders CAN guarantee numbers of links (ranges) and link quality (DA, DR, AS, and so forth).
You’ve probably gotten emails from these link builders before. They tell you they have lists of “DA90+” websites on which they can guarantee backlinks for you.
Yeah, right.
If those sites actually exist, they likely aren’t DA90+. And if they DO have that much domain authority (as measured by a third-party SEO tool), they don’t just take money for backlinks.
And if they DO take money for backlinks, it’s because someone has gamed the system. They have artificially inflated the sites’ DA using black hat link building tactics.
In other words, they’re lying.
But you don’t have to do all that mental work to get there. Just remember this:
Great link building doesn’t start with a list of websites in a spreadsheet sent through SPAM emails. It starts with research related to YOUR industry, your site, your competitors.
I wish I could tell you there’s a super cheap way to get great backlinks at scale. But there isn’t.
If there was, everyone would be doing it.
It’s a simple truth that great SEOs know: Great backlinks come from big investments. That investment could be time, effort, money, or a combination of those factors. But it’s an investment nonetheless.
But link building services deal in money. So, if their prices are much lower than the average, you have to wonder what secret they’ve discovered that no one else has.
Hint:
They HAVEN’T discovered a secret.
They’re just charging you a low price to get you in the door. So they can then not deliver what they promise and walk away with your money without having to do any real work.
Link building is going to cost a good deal of money. But it’s going to be worth it if you find the right provider.
Brute force works in some fields. But not in link building.
Bad link builders will be interested only in selling you a particular number of links. They want you to believe you can force your way to higher rankings with sheer link numbers.
But that’s not it. It’s more nuanced than that. And if they fail to understand that — or just plain ignore it — they’re probably not a very good backlink builder.
What do I mean by nuance? I mean digging in. I mean looking at your CURRENT backlinks. And those of your competitors.
And your anchor text. And link acquisition velocity. And tier two and three schemes. And potentially malicious links. And so on and so forth.
Of COURSE bad link building services don’t want to acknowledge all of that nuance. Because that requires a lot of knowledge, skill, and work on their part to analyze.
But great link builders start with the nuance and build a link building strategy from it.
If you don’t have questions about link building at this point, you probably haven’t paid attention. Link building is an incredibly complex and nuanced part of SEO, so it’s only natural that you’d have some questions.
Here are the answers to some of the most common questions we get from future clients like you:
Yes. Link building works better than ever.
That’s because backlinks remain a central part of Google’s search ranking algorithm. And while people have figured out how to create enormous amounts of spammy content at scale without Google detecting it, they haven’t figured out how to create a huge number of spammy links that Google can’t see.
So, great backlinks still get great SEO results. Because search engines can still trust that backlinks, for the most part, mean that the site receiving them is actually of high quality.
AI is definitely going to change search and search engines. It already is. But I’d argue that backlinks will matter even more than they currently do when AI takes over search engine results.
For example, people are using AI to create HUGE amounts of crappy content as we speak. It’s flooding the internet at a pace never before conceived of.
How will Google sort through all of the muck to find the good stuff? Backlinks.
The content that actually gets backlinks is more likely to deliver real value — value enough for people to link to it, anyway. Google will need to rely EVEN MORE on backlinks to get through the impending wave of AI content.
Definitely not. Sure, DA, DR, AS, and similar metrics can tell you something about the quality of the domain that is now linking to yours. But they don’t tell you everything.
For example, those metrics tell you nothing about whether the domain is relevant to yours. Or whether it actually gets any traffic from Google. And both of those things matter a TON when you’re assessing the quality of a backlink or potential backlink.
Those domain-related authority metrics are third-party metrics meant to approximate Google’s PageRank. And they can do a good job of that. But they absolutely DO NOT tell you everything you need to know about a backlink you’re considering pursuing.
Pick something you don’t know how to do but often pay someone to do.
For me, it’s electrical work. I COULD take a long time to learn how to do it all so I can rewire my house. But would that be worthwhile? Would all the lost time working on my business and spending time with my family be worth the result of doing electrical work myself?
Probably not.
It’s the same for link building. You could learn this stuff. In fact, you may already know some of it. But you don’t really have the time. And to get to where a truly great link builder is could take years.
Is that worth it? Can you wait that long? Can you afford to lose that much time working on other aspects of your business or marketing?
Probably not.
